Popular in Germany in the spring, white asparagus has a very delicate flavor and this recipe really enhances its taste
Peel the asparagus with a vegetable peeler.
In a large pot, bring about 1 quart of water to a boil.
Add the butter, lemon juice, salt, sugar, and the asparagus.
Cook the asparagus for 15 mins. The asparagus should feel soft when poked with a knife. If not, cook for another 5 mins.
Remove the asparagus from the pot and transfer to a separate plate or serving tray.
