German strawberry punch – Erdbeerbowle, as it’s called in Germany – is a delightful and festive way to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Wash the strawberries. Remove the green part. Cut the strawberries into thin slices or small pieces. Add them to a large bowl.
Add the sugar and lemon juice to the strawberries, mix well, and let stand for 15 mins.
Add about half of the wine and let this mixture stand for at least 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
Add the remaining wine and the sparkling wine. Ladle into pretty glasses. Decorate them with optional mint leaves, lemon balm, or strips of lemon zest.
