Combine egg yolks and sugar in a medium bowl. With a handmixer, mix on high speed until pale and creamy.
Add the vanilla extract, the cream, and the rum. Mix until well combined.
Transfer the mixture to a double boiler or to a heat proof glass bowl over a pot of boiling water and mix on low speed until the mixture becomes very thick.
Transfer the egg liqueur to a clean jar or pretty bottles.
